* The Cyprus Academy of Music is a performance advancement institution. Therefore, these areas are offered within the student's primary performance area of concentration and are given significant emphasis. They are not degree majors in themselves. PDMA candidates are required to add one of these fields to their major as a secondary area of concentration (minor) and present the Academy with an in-depth research project before a final jury can be scheduled. Theory and History are mandatory for all students regardless of major. Beginners start Theory in their first year. History is added at the first year of Middle Division. Musicology/Ethnomusicology and Music Therapy are offered only at the Higher Division and PDMA.
